My Kitchen vs. the Rest of the World
Der Tessiner Künstler Elia Buletti ist über Umwege zum Video gelangt, er hat an der HEAD Genève Kunst studiert und bewegt sich in ganz unterschiedlichen Medien; neben seiner Praxis als bildender Künstler ist er ebenfalls schriftstellerisch und als Musiker tätig. Bezeichnend für all seine Arbeiten ist der Verzicht auf spektakuläre Effekte ohne aber auf Humor und gar drastische Inhalte zu verzichten. Es sind aber jeweils kleine, leichte, aber nicht weniger intensive oder tiefschürfende Szenetten, welche oft im Alltäglichen das Tiefe festzuhalten suchen. Oft vergeblich, aber dieses damit verbundene Scheitern macht den Reiz der Arbeiten aus und macht sie erst recht glaubwürdig. Der Titel der Arbeit “my kitchen vs. the rest of the world” ist nicht einfach nur Gag, sondern tatsächlich Programm.
The Ticino artist Elia Buletti has, in a roundabout way, managed to make it onto video. He studied art at the Geneva University of Art and Design and operates in various media; as well as working as an artist, he is also a writer and musician. Characteristic of all his work is his renunciation of spectacular effects, though without cutting back on humour and graphic content. They are however all small, simple, yet nonetheless intense, scenes that dig deep and often look to emphasise what is profound in everyday life. This is often done in vain, but the failure connected with this is what makes the work attractive and really believable. The title of the work, “my kitchen vs. the rest of the world”, is not simply a gag but a real agenda.

Die DVD ist ein vom Küchentisch ausgehendes labyrinthisches Gebilde, in welchem Elia Buletti die Welt (und sich selbst) erforscht, ohne sich dabei aus den 4 Wänden der heimischen Küche zu bewegen.
Sie ist am besten mit einem Computer (und einem DVD-Leseprogramm) abspielbar. So können die Clickzonen und die Menustruktur besser erkannt werden. Aber ein lesen mit einem gewöhnlichen DVD-Player ist ebenfalls möglich.

It is best played on a computer (and with a DVD reading programme). The click zones and menu structure can thereby be better recognised. But it is also possible to read the disk with a normal DVD player.
